Many NBA players have graced the world-famous Rucker Park, during the offseason, to display their talents and streetball skills for die-hard fans. A tradition that has been carried since Dr. J (Julius Erving) laced up his shoes in the early 1970s, before he hit the NBA.
Since then, the park has been a launching pad for many players to expose their hidden talents and inner streetball game. A long list of NBA players have visited the court including: Allen Iverson, Stephon Marbury, LeBron James, Lance Stephenson many more.
Two of the greatest performances are from NBA players Kobe Bryant (2002) and Kevin Durant (2011).
Kobe was fresh off of winning his third NBA Championship and became widely known on the court as "Lord of the Rings," then “Three Rings”. He finished with fifteen points, seven rebounds and seven assists before the rain stopped him from getting a triple double. (Dang rain!)
Ball Up All-Star Bone Collector, was in attendance to witness Kobe miss a wide open 360 dunk (yes I said 360, but he was wide open!).
Durant lit up Rucker Park with 66 points with seemingly effortless efficiency. He electrified the crowd with his 3 point shooting and ball handling. Word on the street is that KD ate fried chicken, collard greens and macaroni & cheese before going crazy on the court. Maybe, he should eat soul food before games in the playoffs (no shade).
Who do you think had the best Rucker Park performance?
